Sahaara supports children from farming families through monthly meals at the Sahaara House, school supplies, hygiene necessities, sports and recreation, and tuition assistance for children whose families cannot afford the full cost of school.

Where it
all began...
Our story
Sahaara was inspired by my grandmother, who believed deeply in supporting children in rural India. Before she unexpectedly passed away in 2024, she often spoke about finding ways to provide meals and educational opportunities for the children of agricultural workers. After losing her, I felt compelled to carry that vision forward. I initially tried building an English‑education initiative through local schools, but repeated administrative roadblocks made it clear that the path she imagined needed a different approach. Rather than abandon the mission, I adapted it into a community‑based program that could begin immediately. With the help of my aunt, Sapna, I am now working to carry my grandmother’s idea forward through the Sahaara House and the programs we provide there. -Tara Nanda, Founder
